Although in the past some people didn't meet their payments and left the group, the remaining members are responsible and continue with the group because they help each other so the group can meet all payments.

"Toño, the photographer" says he is known in his town. He started his business more than 30 years ago because since young he was struck on photography because his parents gave him a camera for his birthday. From there, he likes to take pictures of all beautiful things that nature has.

That's why he used to go to the Mariposa Monarca Sanctuary at an early hour, which is not far from his home, to take pictures of the sunrise with the butterflies when the sun had its first flashes of light and illuminated the beautiful forests of the state of Michoacán. He says that caught his attention and decided to take a photography course through correspondence. Since he didn't have a steady job, he decided to start a photo studio and take the best moments of people and thus obtain profits from what passionate him that is photography.

He is requesting a loan to VisionFund because he wants to buy materials he uses for his photography such as material for developing, films for cameras, photo frames, albums for sale, bags, digital cameras, USB drivers, etc. He says he buys the material in the city of Mexico in several stores specialized in photography. He expects to improve the quality of life of his family with this loan.

He says his goal is to have a place where he can have his own business because rents are very high and he has losses. He also expects to have more work in order to make his dreams come true.

The other 11 members of the group are Gabriella, Edit Veronica, Esperanza, Maria de Jesus, Ma Consuelo, Maria Eugenia, Edith, Maria Claudia, Natividad, Margarita y Juliette. They will invest their loans in items to stock grocery stores, to buy ingredients for food to sell, to buy ingredients for bread, to buy dead chickens to sell them per kilo, to buy jewelry to sell, to buy shoes and clothes by catalog, to invest in raw materials to make snow, ice-cream and to buy seasonal fruits and vegetables for sale.

We should hire Toño to take our pictures :-) What do you think, investors?

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
