Gladys, 38, is a farmer in Litein county in Kenya where she lives with her husband and four children, three of whom are schooling.
She has been in farming for ten years, producing potatoes, milk and tea, which she sells to the people around her area. She also runs a motorbike transportation business as an additional source of income.
She is requesting a 60,000 KES loan from Juhudi Kilimo to purchase materials for constructing a greenhouse. This will improve her farm produce, bringing more income that will help her in paying for her children's school fees.
Insufficient dairy feeds and diseases are her major challenges in farming.
Gladys is thankful to Juhudi Kilimo for giving her the loan.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
