Victor, 38, is a farmer in Litein County in Kenya where he lives with his wife and four children, three of whom are attending school.
He has been in farming for the past eight years, producing tea, milk and vegetables, which he sells in his locality.
He is requesting a 50,000 KES loan from Juhudi Kilimo to purchase materials for constructing a greenhouse, which will help in improving his production. This will increase his income and help him to pay for his children’s schooling and basic needs. He hopes to raise the number of his cows to three in the next five years.
Lack of adequate transport for his products and high competition are his major challenges in farming.
Victor is grateful to Juhudi Kilimo for lending him the loan.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
