Nancy is aged fifty-one and is a farmer in Litein county in Kenya where she lives with her husband and six children; only four of them are still schooling. She has been in farming for twenty years, producing tea and milk, which she sells to the people in her locality.
She is requesting a 40,000 KES loan from Juhudi Kilimo to purchase poultry birds which will work as additional income for her and improve her living standards and also provide income for her children’s school fees. Nancy aspires to have built a modern dairy unit for her dairy cows in the next five years.
Pests and diseases are her major challenge in farming.
Nancy is grateful to Juhudi Kilimo for lending her the loan.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
