Mercy is a 50-year-old resident of Bañadero, Ozamis City. She provides her child's needs from the little amount of 7,500 PHP, which she gains monthly from her own piggery business. She has had the business for 10 years as an aid to the income gained from her husband. However, since 2007 she's been a member of GDMPC, and she has now applied for a loan of 11,500 PHP at GDMPC micro-finance to buy feeding supplies. Mercy wants to make an expansion to her business one day.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
