A 41-year-old mother of four schoolchildren from the Dambae district of Kampong Cham province, Sreyleak owns one hectare of farmland for growing cassava in order to support her entire household. It is the only business that she has been involved with for the past 10 years, earning her about 34,000 KHR per day. Sreyleak has been with VisionFund for at least four loan cycles. She paid back her past loan successfully and it has helped her to support her business. Now, she is requesting her fifth loan from Kiva's partner and she is seeking 1,500,000 KHR. With her loan, she is going to buy an additional plot of farmland for expanding her paddy business. A portion of the loan will be used to pay for weeding. She hopes to grow her paddy in a large scale so as she can make more profit.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
