Alina is originally from Cuba and came to Miami ten years ago. Six months ago, she became partner with her cousin Jose, also from Cuba, when they took the opportunity to purchase a self-service laundry. The business has coin operated washers and dryers and is located in a busy strip mall which includes a supermarket, restaurants and clothing stores.
Both Alina and Jose are strongly committed to growing the business. Alina works during the day, while Jose attends to his full time job. Then Jose comes in to cover the night shifts. Since they bought the business, they have been making small improvements and offer additional services, such as selling phone cards, to increase income.
Their next goal is to increase clientele and to diversify products and services offered. Support Alina and Jose in this new stage as small business owners with a loan that will help them continue to make small renovations and updates to equipment, attracting more people to the business.
