Malik is a 32-year-old married father with two children. He owns his grocery store and sells various foodstuffs. He established his business in this field four years ago. Malik is very hardworking and has a good reputation in his local community. He borrowed 900 AZN from Agroinvest Credit Union to import products for his store. Malik wants to grow his business and increase benefits while providing his family with better living conditions.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
