A citizen from a rural village of Battambang province’s Thmor Koul district, Ol is aged 32 years and married with three children (one daughter and three sons), all of whom are dependents and still in school. To make a living and support the family, Ol and her husband have been farming rice on 6 hectares of farmland as a primary business for seven years. Insufficient working capital to support her paddy-field is still the main challenge.
This is the fifth microloan for Ol with Kiva’s partner VisionFund. She completely paid back the past loans, which have helped her better support her family with sufficient foods.
Now she is requesting a loan of $1,000. Ol will use this loan to buy rice seeds and fertilizer for her farmland. With this loan, she hopes to cultivate her rice to earn more income to improve her lifestyle.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
