Zoila Esperanza
El Sauce is a beautiful town in the west surrounded by flower-covered mountains in winter. Milk and milk curd produced by its residents is abundant. Many people there are noted for being very hardworking. Such is the case of Zoila Esperanza, a 42-year-old, married, mother of two children who are all attending school. She works as a health inspector and has been in this occupation for 23 years; it has allowed her to gradually improve her house.

Thanks to her profession, she owns her house and she’s been improving it thanks to help from loans. She wants to continue enlarging it to provide a good asset for her children and this is why she’s asking for a loan to buy rebar, cement, bricks, metal sheeting and purlines taking advantage of the fact that her husband works in construction to build a room.

She thanks Kiva and Ceprodel for the support provided by means of these loans that have helped her improve her family’s living conditions; she hopes they will continue to help her in the future.

This loan is administered by Centro de Promocion del Desarrollo Local (CEPRODEL), one of Kiva’s larger partners in Central America. Founded in 1991 and based in Managua, Nicaragua, CEPRODEL specializes in the development and funding of housing cooperatives for traditionally marginalized communities, the provision of microfinance services to small businesses, and the promotion of innovative renewable energy projects. In addition, unlike many microfinance institutions in the area that have chosen to avoid the rural areas of the country due to the increased financial risk, CEPRODEL provides financial services to numerous clients in the agriculture and livestock industry. Supporting a borrower through CEPRODEL means contributing to the promotion and sustainability of this important work in Nicaragua.
