Mariam
Mariam is a teacher at SOS children's village in Makeni, a town in Sierra Leone. 47 years old and with four school-going chidren, Mariam needs additional income to meet her childrens' educational requirements. Mariam diversified her sources of income by establishing a small business selling agricultural products and has been running the business for a year.


She would like to expand her business and hire a part-time attendant to manage the business. She is therefore requesting a loan of Le.1500,000 and will repay the loan from her monthly salary.

About Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT)

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT) is Kiva’s oldest field partner in Sierra Leone. SMT began operations in 2002 as a microcredit program of the NGO Child Fund Sierra Leone under a USAID program to assist the reintegration of ex combatants back into their communities.
