Raquel
Raquel is a woman who likes to work and strive for her family. She’s 44-years-old, married and living in Sololá with her husband and ten children; six boys and four girls. One of them is married; four attend school and the other five help with the agriculture work. She and her husband work in agriculture growing potatoes, carrots, radishes, celery and peas. She grows all this on land near her house and on other land located a few kilometers away.

She learned this work alongside her parents since she was 8-years-old so she never went to school. She now has 25 years’ experience growing these vegetables since they retain their market price and produce better profits.

She needs once again to invest and take advantage of the land she and her husband have. She’s requesting a 6,000 Quetzal loan to buy potato and carrot seeds as well as organic manure to then cultivate it. Among her and her husband’s goals is to build a house and start another business in the future.
