A citizen from a rural village of Kampong Cham province’s Dambae district, Muykea is 52 years old and widowed. She has four children, and one of them is dependent and still in school. To feed her family, she has planted cassava for twelve years and sold grocery items in her local area.
Muykea has been with VisionFund for one loan cycle and completely paid back the loan. It helped her to gradually improve her living. Now she is applying for a loan of 3,000,000 KHR from VisionFund. With this new loan, she is going to buy fertilizer and pesticides for her farmland, and pay for labor. She hopes to grow healthy cassava, to increase her family’s income, so as to make a better life. Her dream is to have a decent house for living in.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
