Amale is a 42-year-old Lebanese married woman. She lives with her husband and two children, one of whom is working. Since 2010, she has worked as a private teacher. She adores her profession because she feels that she is helping learners to get a needed education. She receives her students at home, in a small room that is arranged for teaching. Her husband has worked as a painter on a free-lance basis for more than 20 years. They both cooperate together to seek a new and better way of living. Today, Amale is applying for a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to equip the teaching room with the needed chairs, table, board, stationery, and other items. She also wants to renovate the room to be able to receive more students. This will be a good beginning for her, especially if she continues to offer the best she has to better educate her students. This will definitely increase her earnings, thus her way of living.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
