Amelita is 53 years old, married and the mother of three children. She lives in Katipunan, Plaridel, Misamis Occidental, where she has earned a living for the last five years by selling home and used products.
Amelita makes 3,000 Philippine pesos a month and is applying for a loan of 5,000 PHP to purchase additional products like canned goods, noodles, sugar and coffee.
She is a new member of Gata Daku Multi-purpose Cooperative. She joined GDMPC and made the loan as a way to improve her family's living conditions.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
