Men is 57 years old, married and has four children, one of whom is married. Men is a farmer who owns and manages a farming business as the major source of her income. She is very hard working in at the rice fields, growing rice and potatoes for sale. Through her perseverance and hard work, she hopes to make improvements in the business and be able to achieve financial stability someday.
She plans to grow potatoes this season, but she has insufficient capital for the purchase of farm supplies needed for the operation. Therefore, she is applying for a loan from HKL and Kiva to purchase potato plants for growing, as well as fertilizer and pesticides, and also to pay for labor costs. This will enable her to obtain a fruitful harvest and yield a better income to satisfy her family’s needs.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
