Marta
Marta works in agriculture. She is 35 and married. She lives in Solola with her husband and 3 children, 2 men and 3 women. Her eldest son is 18 and helps her with the crops.
Marta grows green peas, zucchini and corn in her house. She started her activity when she still lived with her parents, who she helped in the fields.
As years went by, Marta and her husband decided to continue growing this kind of vegetables because of the good prices they continuously have in the market. She has now worked on this for 20 years, providing for her whole family, and she keeps on growing.
The corn they are growing now is at its last maintenance stages. She needs a loan of 4,000.00 quetzales to purchase fertilizer and pay the laborers that work on her plot. She thus expects to have a good harvest and get good prices for it.
Marta and her husband want the best for all their children. Their dream is to build a decent house for them and to support them with their studies.
