A citizen from a rural village located in the Siem Reap province’s Srey Snom district, Khun is 25 years old and married with one daughter who is still small. For the last four years, he has been farming rice on four-hectare farmland to support his family. With the current business, he can earn about KHR 25,000 per day and can save about KHR 15,000 each day for future needs.
Khun has been a member of VisionFund for three cycles and he completely paid back the loans, which have enabled him to afford a hand tractor and a decent motorbike. Now he is requesting a loan of $1,500 to buy fertilizer and pesticides for his farmland. He hopes to grow his rice fruitfully so as to sell if for a good price in order to improve his standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
