One breadwinner in a family of three children, Norb is 60 years old and a rural villager from Sampov Meas district of Pursat. To make a living, she does rice-cropping and sells clothes, while her husband sells herbal medicines in order sustain her daily expenses.
She has been involved in this business for 20 years. This is her second-cycle loan with Kiva's partner, VisionFund. Her prior loan has upgraded her living condition gradually.
She is now seeking a new loan of 3,500,000 KHR. With this portion, she is going to buy fertilizer and insecticide for her cash crop. Moreover, her small portion of it will be added to her existing savings in order to buy a decent motorbike for supporting her business. She hopes that she will gain more yield so she can expand her business gradually.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
