René is single and has a school-aged child. He lives in a rented home, located in the Villa Copacabana neighborhood of the city of La Paz.
René studied electronics, and now earns an income working as a driver (he owns a taxi) for more than 8 hours a day. He even works up to the late hours of the night, because he has to cover the expenses for rent, food and education for his daughter.
He needs a loan to do general maintenance work on his vehicle; he wants to buy tires and a battery to maintain the vehicle and increase his income.
René's dream is to increase his income and acquire a house through an "anticretico" (lease arrangement) to improve his quality of life.
This is the first time that he has requested a loan from IMPRO, and also the first time with Kiva.

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.
To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
