Ahmad is a 34-year-old Lebanese married man. He lives with his wife and two school-aged children at their modest house located in one of the beautiful Lebanese villages. Ahmad spent the last ten years in installing electricity. But he’s not the only one covering the family expenses; his wife, who prepares homemade food, is considered a good source of income for the family as well. Ahmad has also a parallel job; he works as an electrician at a local company. Ahmad always wanted to better develop his business and improve his work, but until now he has earned a barely fair income. For that reason he decided to take a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase an electrical generator for his business. He confirms that the loan will help him increase his projects and thus his income by 15%. And as Ahmad works independently, he wishes to have his own electrical equipment shop the soonest in order to keep on responding to his family expenses.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
