In this Group: Kalsoom, Khatoon, Noshad, Sajida, Najma, Farzana
Kalsoom is a 40-year-old woman who lives in Punjab, Pakistan, with her husband and daughter.

Since 2004, her husband has had been running a fish shop in the main market as the only source of income for their family. He is a very hard working and honest person and he is capable of generating more income.

Kalsoom, a member of a six-person lending group, has requested a loan from Kiva partner Brac Pakistan to support the growth of her husband's fish shop. He hopes to increase his monthly income and save funds for the future of their only daughter. As the Muslim religious holiday, Eid-ul-Azah, is near, she wants to purchase new clothes for her family as well from the profit generated.

Kalsoom dreams for her daughter's bright future and prays for husband's good health. Many thanks and best wishes for Kiva from her.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
