Perveen is a 39 year old, hard working woman. She lives in Punjab, Pakistan with her husband, three sons and two daughters. Her husband is a taxi driver, and all of her children are studying in private school. For two years, she herself has been running a vegetable shop in the market to offer more variety to clients.

As a member of an eight person lending group, Perveen has requested a loan from Kiva partner BRAC Pakistan to purchase a variety of vegetables and fruits for her shop. With the profit amount, she is interested in opening a new shop near her house, as the current shop is too far from her residence.

Perveen hopes for a bright future for her children. Many thanks from her to all staff of Kiva and BRAC Pakistan.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
