Maximo, 55, is married, has two children and resides in Lower Usugan, Bonifacio. Maximo has operated a farming venture, planting and harvesting rice for sale in the local community, for five years. Each month, he earns 25,000 PHP from his business. He requested a loan of 30,000 PHP to purchase fertilizer. In 2011, Maximo joined GDMPC. In the future, Maximo wants to save as a reserve for future emergencies and to purchase more farm land.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
