Aníbal has had a fast-food stand for the last 17 years that generates income he needs for his home to support his wife and three children he’s providing schooling for. When he started the business it was very poorly stocked and he’d go through great difficulties but in time he’s been improving it and now he has the opportunity to have a three-wheel cart that’s the cart he uses to sell fast-food.

At present, he’s facing the difficulty that the carts motor is damaged so he’s unable to reach some of the schools on time where his products sell very well. Seeking to overcome this obstacle, Aníbal is looking for a loan to repair his fast-food cart’s engine so that he can get to the schools on time where his products sell very well.

In this way he hopes to recuperate lost sales due to his not arriving on time at the schools and his family will be able to enjoy improved quality of life. Aníbal dreams with getting ahead and owning his own juice firm.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
