Rebeccah, aged 42, is a farmer in Nkubu County, Kenya, where she lives with her husband and three children, of whom only one is in school. She has been in farming for over twenty years producing maize, peas, milk, and beans, which she sells locally.
She is requesting a 60,000 KES loan from Juhudi Kilimo to purchase dairy goats, which will help her get more income, thus bettering her lifestyle and allowing her to educate her children. She believes that she will be the best producer of dairy goats in the near future.
Rebeccah says high costs of feed is her major challenge in farming.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
