Khalida is a 38 year old independent woman. She lives in Pakistan with her husband, two daughters and son. Both of her daughters are students, while her son is an auto mechanic.

Khalida is a very hard-working tailor, and her husband is a taxi driver. They are living in a rented house and sometimes she doesn't have enough money to pay the rent. Khalida is interested in increasing her business. To do that as a member of 10 person lending group, she has requested a loan from Kiva partner BRAC Pakistan to purchase a new sewing machine. With the profits, she wants to open a boutique shop in which she can sell beautifully stitched clothes. She also wants her son to start a new business, and for that, she will be investing some amount.

Khalida dreams of a better future for her children, and her husband's good health. She wants to spend a healthy and simple life with family. Many thanks from her to all staff of Kiva.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
