Maria Antonia
Ceprodel, via Resolver, provides for family necessities through timely loans.

María is one of the beneficiaries of these loans. It allows her to carry out her activity. That is why she visited the Ceprodel offices to make her application. The loan will be used to buy sandals and shoes. This is for a side activity, since her profession is that of an elementary teacher. Her activity as a merchant is done with the objective of improving her condition and quality of life. Her salary doesn't cover all of her household necessities, so she is seeking these credit alternatives. This way, her low salary becomes productive because she can pay off the loan with it. This gives her the opportunity to stock her business inventory and grow some more. She is single and is raising a grandson. María is grateful to Ceprodel for the support that she needed so much and for the opportunity to do what she wanted so much, increasing her inventory and achieving what she wanted.

More information about this loan

This loan is part of CEPRODEL's program to lend to individuals who suffer from work-related health problems.  These individuals are frequently rejected for loans by microfinance institutions due to poor health and low income. CEPRODEL is offering loans to these clients and their families for a range of purposes, including working capital to help them start or grow small businesses. For borrowers starting new businesses, CEPRODEL waives its requirement that recipients have over one year of experience in the field. Given the relatively higher risk of lending to these borrowers, CEPRODEL would not be able to offer these loans without the flexible, risk-tolerant capital provided by Kiva lenders.

Please note that the faces of CEPRODEL borrowers may be blurred in an effort to avoid safety risks and to maintain their privacy.

This loan is administered by Centro de Promocion del Desarrollo Local (CEPRODEL), one of Kiva’s larger partners in Central America. Founded in 1991 and based in Managua, Nicaragua, CEPRODEL specializes in the development and funding of housing cooperatives for traditionally marginalized communities, the provision of microfinance services to small businesses, and the promotion of innovative renewable energy projects. In addition, unlike many microfinance institutions in the area that have chosen to avoid the rural areas of the country due to the increased financial risk, CEPRODEL provides financial services to numerous clients in the agriculture and livestock industry. Supporting a borrower through CEPRODEL means contributing to the promotion and sustainability of this important work in Nicaragua.
