Esther is 53 years old and lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She is widowed with two grown children. She manages a retail store where she sells any kind of food products. She has had this store for five years and earns a total of about 8,000 Philippine pesos (PHP) a month. She has requested a loan of 16,000 PHP to obtain more food items to sell. In the future, Esther hopes for business expansion.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
