Domingo Otoniel, 50 years old, is married and has a 22-year-old daughter, who is economically independent. He is an internal security guard in a local company. He also sells over-the-counter medicine for a company that distributes it. Domingo is a native of Chinandega, which is located in the western part of the country.
The financing he is requesting is to improve his house's condition. Such improvements consist of building a surrounding wall in an "L" shape, because he has been robbed in several occasions, and he needs to have protection for his family. He has wanted to make this improvements for a year, but because of the lack of financing he has not done it. With the financing he will buy the construction materials, such as zinc, sand, cement, lime, bricks, gravel and iron.
Domingo Otoniel would like to give thanks for the help provided by Kiva's investors to people with limited-resources in poor countries such as Nicaragua, in order to have a decent place to live.

This loan is administered by Fundación Leon 2000. Fundación Leon 2000 began operations in 1993 as the first microfinance institution to serve the western part of Nicaragua, a country which continues to be one of the poorest in the western hemisphere. Fundación Leon 2000 works to further the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises through credit services and management, applying the best credit industry practices and technical expertise. Additionally, Fundación Leon manages several business and financial education programs in the community, specifically for young entrepreneurs and at-risk youth. Fundación Leon 2000’s group of experienced and dedicated employees works in 7 offices in Leon, Chinandega, Chichigalpa, Somotillo, Jinotepe, El Sauce, and Nagarote and serves several thousand clients (the majority of whom are women).
