Manzura
Manzura turned to MDO Arvand for financial support as she needs to organize a celebration for her grandson. A year ago she gave her daughter away in marriage. Now that her daughter has given birth to a son, Manzura has to organize a celebration and buy some gifts. Manzura works as a dispatcher, but her salary is sufficient only for running expenses. Her husband is a migrant worker [in the Russian Federation]; he send them money, but it is not enough for major purchases. Manzura would like to buy a stroller and a “gakhvora,” a traditional cradle for her grandson, since the tradition dictates that every grandmother buys such a gift for her grandchildren. She appreciates getting support from Arvand and being able to organize her event without difficulty. She thanks you in advance.

About MDO Arvand

MDO Arvand is one of the leading microfinance institutions in Tajikistan, offering small loans to entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses. This makes an enormous difference in a country, which is not only the poorest in Central Asia, but also home to a population where two-thirds live below the poverty line. Today, Tajikistan's economy literally depends on remittances being sent from family members working abroad in Russia because there are so few local job opportunities.

But Arvand loans have been able to make a difference and change lives. Read about some of the incredible success stories they have seen here in this Kiva blog post: Bringing hope to Tajikistan with Arvand -- one success story at a time.
