Sary, age 40, earns an income from cultivating rice and fattening pigs. She earns about $2 per day and has operated her businesses for more than 10 years. She lives with her husband and their three children in Takeo Province, Cambodia. Her husband (shown with her in the picture) is a motor taxi driver who earns about $5 each day. One of their children is employed in a garment factory and earns $3 per day.
In order to improve her family’s finances, Sary is requesting a loan of $1,000 in order to purchase cattle to raise and sell. By doing so, she will earn additional income to help her support the family.
In the future, she would like to expand her piggery and to send her children to a good school. Moreover, she hopes eventually to build a new house for her family.
