Mwaka is widowed and has two grown children. She has a business for over 15 years selling fruits and vegetables. Mwaka conducts her business at the central market in her town. She has a good set of casual customers which allows her to maintain a profitable business. With the loans from Yehu, she has been able to increase her inventory that she sells to her customers. As a result of working in her business, she has been able to accomplish her personal goals such as improving her business and making renovations to her home. With this loan, she will buy tomatoes, kale, bananas, etc.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
