Danfer Ismael
Danfer, 19, lives in Chincha, a city known for its mild and pleasant climate. The city is also famous for its many sporting successes and for its traditional cuisine. Danfer has to work hard, but he takes time now and then to be with with his family. He lives with his wife and their year-old child. As a dad, he has double the reason to work hard and overcome whatever obstacles stand in his way.

Danfer has a job delivering soft drinks, mineral water, etc. He works every day, for 10 hours a day, to support his family. He says that he is good at his job because he is responsible and, above all, because, he has to make a success of it to take care of his family.

Danfer says that he is grateful to Kiva lenders because your loans will allow him to buy the construction materials--flooring, roofing, timber, etc.--he needs to add a room to his wife's parents' house. His wife's parents have set aside space for the room and he only needs the materials to build it. The investment will provide him and his family with a place to live and work toward his dream of "giving our child a good education and owning a house of our own".

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
