Artesanos Group
In this Group: Eusebia, Imelda, Elia, Ma Petra, Elia, Claudia, Quirino
Petra is 49 years old and is part of the communal bank group called "Artesanos" [Artisans]. They said that the group is called that because the majority of the members are artisans who work with clay, so they named themselves that so that they would be easily identifiable. Petra is a very hard working woman with a strong hope to get ahead. She told us that she earns a living selling seasonal fruit and vegetables in the market in an area close to where she lives. She has a garden that produces avocados, peaches and loquats. She said that the loan that is currently pending through VisionFund is to buy flour, sugar, milk, eggs, butter, yeast, and fire wood for her wood burning oven to make the bread, because she also makes money selling bread by going house to house and to people who place orders. A part of the loan will also be used to buy fertilizer for her trees.

She said the loan will be beneficial to her because it will allow her to have raw materials to make her bread and to improve the conditions of her trees. With the profits she makes she will be able to give her family a better quality of life. Her goal is to increase the size of her garden, to depend less on the profits from her bread since baking is very time intensive, and that way she would be able to spend more time with her family.

The other six group members are Eusebia, Imelda, Elia, Elia Martínez, Claudia y Quirino. They will be using their shares of the loan to buy materials to make clay artisan products, to buy and resell seasonal fruits, to buy the ingredients for meat tacos, to buy supplies to restock a small corner store and to restock different types of ornamental flowers.
