A loan of $1,200 helped to buy more sugar and other commodities.

Annet's story

Annet is 33 years old and lives in the town of Kayunga in the Jinja region of Uganda. She is married and has four children who are all currently in school. For the past four years, Annet has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells rice, beans, posho, and other general items.

To help expand her business, Annet has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more sugar and other commodities, and will help Annet to generate greater profits and enlarge the business with proceeds from increased sales. Annet hopes that in the future she will be able to sell quality products.

Annet is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Annet, who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
