Loun is 43 years old, widowed, and has two children who attend school. She lives in a rural area of the Dambae district of Kampong Cham province, Cambodia. She has struggled to feed her children through raising pigs, producing rice wine, and selling grocery items, all of which she has been doing for 10 years. She earns about 30,000KHR per day and saves around 10,000 KHR per day after daily expenses.
Loun is requesting her fifth loan from VisonFund for 1,000,000 KHR, which she will use to buy a pot for producing rice wine and more piglets for raising. She repaid her past loans, which have helped her. She hopes this loan will help her to improve her current business and increase her income in order to have better living conditions and keep her children in school.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
