A resident from a rural area of the Ratanak Mondul district of Battambang province, Cambodia, Pert is a 52-year-old mother of four children, one of whom is dependent on her and still in school. She has earned a living through selling cakes for five years while her husband grows vegetable such as cabbages. chilies, and cucumbers to support the family. The current business earns them about 30,000 KHR per day and they manage to save about 12,000 KHR each day for future needs after offsetting daily expenses. Drought is still the main challenge for her.
Pert has been with VisionFund for four cycle. She fully repaid the past loan which have helped her better support her family with sufficient food. She is now applying for a loan with VisionFund of 4,000,000 KHR. With this loan, she is going to buy fertilizers for her vegetable planting and use a portion of it to buy a proper motorbike for her husband to complement the income by working as a motor-taxi driver in the local area. She hopes this loan will enable her family to earn a larger income to improve her family’s living condition and keep her child in school.
