Zacarias is 44 years old, single, and lives in Quebradas community, in Mizque province, in Cochabamba department. He leads a solitary life as he doesn't have any children. He shares his life with his closest relatives: his sister and her children. They help him out when they can.
As a result of the severe frosts which occurred in his region between July 15th and July 25th this year, Zacarias lost 50% of his potato and sweet potato crops which led to a decrease in his income at sale time. His financial stability has been thrown off balance and this has directly affected his ability to acquire the materials and supplies he needs for his crops, as well as the groceries he needs to feed the laborers that he employs.
Zacarias needs to buy farm supplies and seeds so that he can start again, improve his quality of life and re-join the path to prosperity. He tells us that he meets his financial needs by additionally working with and hiring out his oxen to plow other people's land.
