Lucia is 46 years old, single, and lives in Buena Vista community, in Mizque province, in Cochabamba department. She leads a solitary life as her children are already grown up, though they help her out when they can. Owing to the severe frosts which were experienced in her area between July 15th and July 25th this year, Lucia lost 50% of her tomato and potato crops. This led to a decrease in her income at sale time. For this reason, her financial stability has been thrown off balance, which has directly affected her ability to acquire both the materials and supplies she needs for her farming as well as the basic groceries she needs to feed the laborers that she employs. Lucia needs to buy farm supplies and seeds so that she can start again, improve her quality of life and re-join the path to prosperity. She tells us that she meets her financial needs by additionally working as a laborer in her area at harvest time.
