Marie is a 50-year-old woman. She lives with her three children, two of whom are working; the other is still attending school. Despite her older age, Marie is obliged to work continually as she is responsible for supporting her children. Although she still receives her husband’s monthly salary after his death, she thought to open her own laundry, in addition to selling lingerie, towels, drapes and many other items, to better improve their way of living. She provides her customers with good quality at fair prices.
She’s asking to borrow from Kiva Partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase more products and better develop her laundry. In the near future, Marie wishes to expand her business and maybe hire new employees and therefore earn a higher income.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
