Felauai is 56 years old and married with 4 children. She runs a small business selling tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. in her community and has been doing this for 1 year. Felauai has requested a loan to pay for cucumber seeds, cabbage seeds, a grass-sprayer, a rake and a wheelbarrow for her business. She joined SPBD for many years to gain access to capital. With her earnings, Feelauai will continue to serve her community and gain more income to help supplement her family's income.
South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) improves conditions for families living in poverty by providing accessible credit, training, and guidance to help them start, grow and maintain micro-businesses, build assets, finance home improvements, and afford to educate their children. 99% of SPBD’s loans go to women, who can borrow in groups to guarantee one another rather than put up collateral.
