It’s been about 4 years approximately that the “15 de Diciembre” association has belonged to the Pro-Mujer family. They are a group of 18 women who work toward improving their standards of living. Almost all are married and have an average of seven children of varied ages. The principal activity of this group is agriculture, such as growing potatoes, beans, oca, carrots and others, which they harvest each month. They sell the aforementioned products at the La Ceja market (city of El Alto). Unfortunately, the frosts in winter caused them to lose a few of their crops, which is why they need capital to invest into new harvests to generate income that would allow them to recover their previously lost investment. In addition, the loan would be to generate income to help sustain their families on a daily basis.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
