Artesanas Mazahuas De Donaciano Group
In this Group: Arnulfa, Sofía, Claudio, María Catalina
Arnulfa is 53 years old and is a native of the indigenous community named Donaciano Ojeda where the people of the town still dress and speak mazahua. She says that her group chose the name Mazahua Crafts of Donaciano because, at the beginning, they were all women and all were dedicated to the same activity, which is ocoshal crafts for which they take the raw material from palmitas that they break off themselves from the pine trees and there make various items for the house like napkin rings, bread and tortilla baskets, vases, jewelry boxes, hats and many more things which they sell in Mexico City or in the tourist area like in Santuario de la Mariposa Monarca. She says that she's had her business for more than ten years and she likes to work a lot. She says, "sometimes our state of Michoacan is categorized as a state in conflict where there are problems with drug trafficking but this is a lie. We michoacanos are hard working people with desires to live better, people who strive day after day to take a piece of bread to our mouths and it is a very beautiful place full of nature where people are friendly and we attend them with pleasure and with much respect so I invite them to come to know the monarch butterflies, to the archaeological area of Zirahuato, to the thermal waters of San Jose Purua, to the bathhouses of Azufres and to the many beautiful places that our country has and also I invite them to buy my crafts to be able to get ahead and to live with dignity and happiness."

Arnulfa is a very happy and hard working woman. She is requesting a loan to buy material to make her ocoshal crafts and also to buy a few more small turkeys and the food for them. She says that she will make crafts like bread baskets, vases, fruit baskets, tortilla baskets, and many other things. One of her goals is to expand her avocado orchard and invest in planting this fruit to improve her conditions. The other three members of the group are named Sofia, Claudio and Maria Catalina. They will invest in the purchase of materials to make ocoshal crafts and to sell them.
