Om is 33 years old and a mother of four children. She and her husband have been farming for 15 years on their one hectare of farmland to earn a daily living.
Om is a new member of Kiva partner VisionFund. She is seeking a new $650 loan to buy fertilizer and rice seed and pay labor costs for her rice field. She will also use some portion of the loan to buy clothes to resell and earn extra income. She hopes to gain a double yield and sell her rice at a high price so as she can upgrade her standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
