Chet, 25, and single, is a farmer from a rural area of Ponhea Krek District of Kampong Cham Province. He plants rice and cultivates rubber to make a living and also supplements his income by germinating rubber tree seeds for selling. Chet has been been involved in these businesses for two years and he could earn approximately 40,000 KHR per day.
Chet is now in the second loan with VisionFund. He wisely used the first loan and, as a result, he was able to feed his family well. After the fist loan ended, Chet decided to apply for another and use it to spend on germinating rubber tree seeds. He hopes the second loan will enable him to germinate more seeds so that he can sell them for more money.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
