Mariam is 27 years old and a married mother of one child. She lives with her family in Msambweni, a town in the coastal region of Kenya which is well known for its nice beaches that attract many tourists.
Mariam makes her living in selling makuti (thatching materials made from palm frond). She has been in this business for the last eight years.Mariam buys makuti from various places. She also buys fronds and makes makuti to sell. She is requesting the loan to purchase more makuti to take advantage of this rainy season that requires most people to repair their leaking roofs.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
