14 de Agosto is the name of a good group of women which was founded in the city of Itá thanks to Zolia, the current President, who contacted the advisor at a weekly meeting she had in the area, to find out how the Comité de Mujeres Emprendedoras (Enterprising Women Committee) worked. When she learned about the program, she managed to bring 21 women together. They support each other and are now working collectively on their third cycle within the program.

Zoila always tries to motivate her fellow members to keep fighting for their goals and better themselves. She is a seamstress and tells us that the jobs she receives always keep her very busy, because she gets a lot of them. That is why she is requesting a loan, because she wants to purchase fabric and thread as well as buttons and zippers so that she can fill all of the orders she has. She is thankful for the help she and her friends are receiving.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
