A loan of $1,000 helped to buy more piglets and an air pump.

Ry's story

Ry, 37, is married and the mother of four daughters who are all in school. They live in a rural area of the Thmor Koul district of Battambang Province in Cambodia.

To support their children, her husband and she raise hogs. Her husband also works as a welder and washes cars. They have been working for nine years in these various occupations.

Ry has taken out eight loans with Kiva’s partner VisionFund, all of which she completely paid back and have progressively improved her pig business. Ry is now applying for another loan with VisionFund, this time for 1,000 USD. With this loan she plans to buy more piglets and an air pump for her husband’s business.

Ry hopes this loan will enable her to fatten up her pigs so that she can sell them for a good profit. She wants to make the family’s life better and especially to keep her children in school.
