To support their children, her husband and she raise hogs. Her husband also works as a welder and washes cars. They have been working for nine years in these various occupations.
Ry has taken out eight loans with Kiva’s partner VisionFund, all of which she completely paid back and have progressively improved her pig business. Ry is now applying for another loan with VisionFund, this time for 1,000 USD. With this loan she plans to buy more piglets and an air pump for her husband’s business.
Ry hopes this loan will enable her to fatten up her pigs so that she can sell them for a good profit. She wants to make the family’s life better and especially to keep her children in school.
About VisionFund CambodiaVisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
