Sofronio Jr. is from the village of Sta. Filomena. He is 49 years old, married, and has two children.
Sofronio Jr. is a farmer. He owns and operates a coffee farm and also has a piggery as his other source of income. He has been engaged in this business for over five years and earns approximately 10,000 Philippine pesos (PHP) a month.
Sofronio Jr. is requesting a loan of 30,000 PHP which will be used to purchase fertilizers for his coffee farm and feeds for his piggery. This will be the 24th loan taken out by Sofronio Jr. from PMPC. He plans to use the additional revenue generated from his business to improve his family's general living conditions.

Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
